The Chosen 13 (Chinese Zodiac RP - PLEASE JOIN :D )

But there is one more...the Cat. The Cat is an outcast. It was supposed to be a part of the zodiac signs but its said that the cat was tricked by the rat and was never to be a zodiac. But people who would have been born in the year of the Cat are Proud and aggressive ... 猫

There are many people who are born under these signs... but it goes further than that. There are 13 chosen people in the whole world who bear their sign, and are cursed. The people who are cursed are not just simply born with the sign. These people are special. They can turn into the animal sign that they are at will... But they will also turn into their animal sign if a certain emotion is triggered. That is one reason why these 13 people are cursed. Another reason why these people are cursed is because there are people who are out to get them. The 13 people with this curse are oblivious to the fact that they are being hunted by people who want them killed. At least until they are confronted by them. These cursed people also have a power that is unique to them and only they can use it. Along with that, there is a spirit guardian for each cursed person. These spirit guardians have been protecting their cursed friends for their whole life. They cannot be seen by normal humans, only by the thirteen people. The guardians can speak to their "partner" through mouth, or through mind. Each cursed person has one spirit guardian. The two are linked together, mind and soul. What the cursed person feels, will affect their spirit guardian easily. If the person feels pain or sickness, the spirit guardian feels pain or sickness. If the spirit guardian feels a certain emotion, the cursed person feels that emotion. If either one of them were to die, they both die. The cursed 13 also have weapons "carried" around with them at all times. I say "carried" because they don't actually have to have their weapons on them. The cursed 13 can just make their one weapon appear at will, whenever they want to, wherever. These 13 will need all the help they can get in order to succeed the task that they were destined to complete.

You heard me mention that there are people out to kill these 13 cursed people. These people are called The Protectors. They call themselves The Protectors because they think that they are helping the world by trying to kill these 13 people. They think that the 13 cursed people are demons, and they should never have existed and that they will destroy the world. Quite the opposite, the cursed 13 are the only things that are keeping the world together as it teeters on war. It will be up to them to survive and save the world before the destruction. But the world can only be saved with all 13 of them, something that they do not know. They don't even know that they're supposed to save the world. The 13 people have to constantly be on guard, knowing that someone is out there that is trying to get at them, but they don't know who or what. Will the 13 cursed join together to fight the death of the world? Will they find everyone, all of these people scattered across the globe? Will some of the cursed 13 not join in the fight, thus killing the world? Or will all of them die and The Protectors triumph? Only time will tell.

Personality: Mai is a quiet rogue of the city that she lives in. Her face is in the police records as a thief. She doesn't normally do bad things, but she has to steal to survive, and she can't survive any other way than that since she has no money. A lot of times she's come in close calls with the police, but they've never been able to catch her. Sakura kind of is like her too, cautious, careful, but daring. Sakura seems to have a little bit more wisdom than Mai though. Mai has always been so-so with the fact that the rat had tricked her zodiac, but she always tries to avoid anyone who could be considered one of the chosen, because she doesn't want to face another of her kind when they regard her as an outcast. She loves the company of Sakura more than anything, and together, they have been able to survive. Mai feels that if any chosen one ever needed her help, she'd probably say no for what they've done to her. She isn't afraid of danger, and as her zodiac is, those who are born in the year of the cat are aggressive and proud. She is normally too proud to admit that she is wrong, thus one of her huge faults. She doesn't like to be wronged, and hates people who try to tell her that she is. She can also be extremely aggressive, going to huge extremes to protect one she loves or protect herself. Mai feels like she never needs anyone else's help, and won't give it back, for that is the way of her life.

Personality: Damon loves to pull a good prank. No one can really take him seriously. He is often reckless, but as it says for the zodiac sign of the dog, and how the dog is honest and friendly. This is true for Damon of course. He doesn't like to lie too much, only lying to those who "deserve" it in his mind. He's honest to people that he trusts. He is very friendly too, easily fitting into many places. At the same time, he tries to seem unaffected by anything, but sometimes from all the stress that he puts on himself to remain unhurt, he sometimes finds that he can just feel so sad about everything. Even though he can turn into his animal form at will, he finds it very hard to get angered. He's just kind of... oblivious to getting angry, because he has such a carefree personality. It's kind of good that he can't get angered easily because if he got angered by a human and he turned into his animal form, then that would be very bad.

The tavern is where she loves to be, and everyone there know her. No one really knows that she was taken in by the tavern keepers, and people always thought that she was their daughter. Emilie seems to be filled with boundless energy, eager to leap and help others. She can be very fierce. She doesn't like it when people say that she's doing wrong, or that something is the matter. Sometimes drunkards in the tavern can get her very wriled up if she isn't careful, and she might loose it. If she's angry, her nice manor slips away, and she becomes a wildfire, destroying things. If someone that she loves is hurt, or someone who she loves is in danger, there is nothing to stop her. From a lot of experiences in the tavern with men, Emilie is well guarded against other men. She is a very hard-to-get-at girl, and hates it if people think her weak. Emilie is a ball of fire that will not be, and cannot be stopped.

Personality: A very charming and anything, but shy, Raymond is a very flirty and a lady-killer. He tends to get out with a girl one night... then he goes out with ANOTHER girl in the next day. This usually makes him get in trouble, not only because of him going out with more then one girl, but he also flirts a lot with ladies already with boyfriends (and most of the time, he IS aware of that). Even though he tends to fail a lot to make the girl like him again, he is a good friend and, if the girl is not interested in him, he still wants to be good friends. Ray loooves to fight as well. He, most of the time, returns home with a black eye, a bleeding wound (normally the nose) and a large smile on his face. No one can tell if he won the fight or just got a very good kick, either way, that pleases him.
What pleases Ray most is to watch people doing stupid things or babbling. Because of that, he uses his power as a puppeteer to control random people at a public place and makes them do stupid things that greatly keeps him entertained. His poisoned fangs that causes hallucinations are also a good way to please Ray, but he tries not to, because it reminds him of cannibalism.

Power: Puppeteer (he controls people's body against their will, but they are fully aware of it). Even though he can control more then one person around him and rarely get tired, Asclepius keeps telling Ray that this power is slowly draining his life and that, if he keeps using it just for fun, he might not live until he reaches 25 years.

Other: Even though his zodiac is a snake, Ray has a bad eyesight that not even glasses can make it better. Sometimes he just doozes off and doesn't listen, but that might be his personality or he also have problems of hearing.

Also, I changed the picture of how my character look like as their zodiac animal. Not only the "WTF" face of the snake was creeping me, but I noticed how strangely similar both his animal form and the spirit looked like.

I also have a question... They only change into the animal form when their emotion is triggered, but what about the animal parts? Can they change at any hour without having to feel an especific emotion? Another thing, what happens if one of the cursed people dies?

(To your first comment about that animal form stuff... They can also change at will into an animal, but if they feel that emotion, then they're also screwed, nomatter wherever they are.

The morning air was cool with a slight breeze as the village slowly started to stir. A slim sheet of fog hung silently over the people's heads as they prepared their stalls for the day. It wouldn't be long before the pleasant chill of the early hours gave way and the warmth of the day would show. The sun hadn't totally risen yet, only a faint glow in the distance showed. Only the stall keepers were up at this hour, but the stall keepers were a very large majority of the town's population. Other villagers would still be in bed, awaiting to wake up when the sun rose higher. Among the many quiet-stepping merchants of trade, a few figures wandered. These were the early birds. Perhaps relatives or family of some of the stall keepers, there to help. Only the town square sported any activity though. The rest of the village was quiet. Not too far away from a honey-selling stall, was a boy. The lean teenage boy wasn't unusual to see around the village square in the morning. The shopkeepers almost always saw him, and somewhat regarded him as a friend, or at least an acquaintance. Neither the boy or the shop keepers spoke to each other, but they both respected the other. The boy hadn't been in the village long, but it wasn't hard for people to make friends with travelers. As the boy walked along the town square, none of the shopkeepers looked up, because they knew it was him. They knew him well enough to know that he didn't mean any harm. It was just another day, another dollar to them.

Me and Elpis almost always talk to each other through our minds. Not only is it TOTALLY FREAKING AWESOME that we can do that, but it also gives me someone to talk to. I mean, seriously. Elpis has saved my butt so many times. Why that's nice that you think of me that way. I heard the smooth and joking voice of Elpi in my head. Oh right. That's another thing. Elpis can read my mind. But then, another not totally awesome part is that we're stuck together for life. Elpis and I get along fine. But sometimes we can easily get into a friendly argument that goes on for days because neither of us can stand to not get the last word, since we're alike in so many ways. It always is that our arguments are over pointless things though. I don't know what I would do without Elpis. I can easily do stupid things. Elpis, even though she is like me, can remind me that what I'm about to do is stupid. I don't really know how I got to be and where I came from, but whoever placed me on this world, was thinking smartly when he placed me with Elpis. Without Elpis, I don't even know if I'd be alive today. Oh yes. You'd probably be a starving hobo without me. I grinned down at the multicolored dog beside me, who stared up at me with deep brown eyes. Seriously... Are we ever going to meet with another of our kind? I asked Elpis, and she seemed to think for a moment. I definitely hope so. She said in a somewhat quiet voice. See, Elpis told me that spirit guardians can talk aloud. They just never do. All of my kind can understand other spirit guardians and they can speak in our minds, but it isn't totally easy. It's much easier for the spirit guardian to just talk aloud since the mind thingie can make them tired. Also, if the spirit guardian just doesn't want to talk, their "friend" or just plain "human" can translate... It's kind of confusing, but everything is confusing to me. Elpis has a hard time putting up with my stupidity, but hey. She's also semi-stupid, but if a little more smarter than me because she's a spirit guardia- "Hey!" I said as I felt Elpis nip my hand a little. She gave me a hard stare. You're the only stupid one here, do you hear me? All spirit guardians are smart, even if they have to be a little like their chosen one. She informed me with her nose up in the air. I rolled my eyes but then stopped. I didn't want Elpis to bowl me over next.

What are you going to do today oh stupid one? Elpi asked sarcastically. I dunno... I get really bored of everything lately. I said sadly. Elpi seemed to think about that for a moment and then responded. Just some restlessness. It'll pass. She responded, but I persisted. No, I think it's this town. I need new surroundings... I'm really bored all the time. I knew it was true. For a moment I felt slightly sad, and in response, Elpis' ears drooped beside me and her head and tail hung low. Aw, brighten up. I told myself and Elpi. Elpis stared at me for a long time.If you think I like those random mood swings that are hooked with yours, then you're wrong. Me and Elpis insulted each other a lot, but it was always in good fun. I glanced ahead at the small park that branched off of the town square. I liked these mornings. I had always thought it was odd how others couldn't see Elpi, so I had to be careful that I didn't stare at her all the time. I didn't want people to think that I was staring at air. It had always taken me a long time to accept that people couldn't see Elpi, but after a while, she had been able to hammer the fact that normal humans couldn't see her, into my brain. You're such a stubborn boy. Elpis said sarcastically. Sometimes I could forget that Elpis could read my mind, so I was surprised when I heard her voice in my head now and then, responding to what I was thinking. It's like having a little bug in your brain that responded sarcastically to all of your thoughts. Hey. I try my best to be nice. Give me some slack. It's hard to stand being with you ALL the time. I gave her a long stare, but I only got a smug look from the dog. You can be very mean some time, did you know that? I asked, but Elpis only rolled her eyes and stared at the ground.

We walked for some time in silence, when I suddenly found that I was extremely hungry. My mouth watered almost instantly. I was really confused though. I never was hungry at this hour. Then I noticed Elpis, staring longingly at a meat stall. Sure, spirit guardians don't eat human food. I never really understood what they ate. I guess they just didn't need food. I remembered Elpis telling me that spirit guardians can only sometimes influence their chosen one's emotions, but the chosen one's emotions always affected the spirit guardian. After some while of staring at her, Elpis turned, somewhat unknowing that I had been watching her. I'm sorry. she said, turning her head away from the food stall and me. I still dream of human food sometimes. I shrugged. That's fine. If you could eat it, I'd buy it for you. With that, we started to walk towards the small park, ready to plan what to do for the day.

(Sorry for only posting Damon. I have to go outside to help my dad with yard work and I have to also help my mom wash her car. I'll post Mai as soon as I can. Also, I'm not really sure about the time/age that the role play takes place during... It could be whenever. It's not totally present, but it's also not totally middle ages. I guess you could either say modern or early modern out of the choices you gave me... There are still villages and venders and street stalls and stuff, but it's... I dunno. It's undecided. "EEEEEEEEEEKK!!!!" a woman scream came out of a busy tavern on the village while dozens of peasants, some half naked, were running out of the building, searching the guards.
Inside... There was a man, with clothes of the other people, dancing on the tables and stepping on bottles and glasses of beer. "What!? What kind of demon is doing this to me?!" screamed the poor man, fully aware of what was happening, but not able to control his own body. He then grabbed a bottle of wine and started splashing everywhere with the red liquid on the other peasants "This man is crazy! Where are the guards?!" the owner of the tavern, Edgar, shouted while trying to remove the sharp objects from the man's possession.

Everyone was running, trying to help or just getting out of the tavern as fast as they can. Everyone but him. A young man with his face barely visible because of the shadows of the corner of the tavern was still sitting paciently on his table while drinking a cup of the finest wine of the tavern, Edgar's wife speciality. The only thing visible was a pair of shiny yellow eyes around the man's neck, moving here and there uneasy.

After the tavern was empty and Edgar was the only one left to clean the mess, Raymond left the messy building trying to hold his shrieks of laugh. Asclepius, the snake that was always around Ray's neck, shook his reptilian head. This again, Raymond? spoke the snake mentaly, How many times do I have to tell you that fun and entertainment have its limits? This is the fourth time this week. If you keep this u-- "Yeah, yeah... I know, I'll have a few more years left..." said Ray irritated because Asclepius was always disturbing his fun "It's not like there's anything else to live in this god-forsaken place anyway." he finished, while trying to remove the dense fog around his black hair.

Asclepius and Raymond were always discussing about Ray's use of his power of controlling people. It is considered a thing of the devil for the people of that village and sooner or later, that village will also find out that Raymond is behind everything. Like Asclepius said, this is the fourth time of the week that Ray uses his power to control other people for his fun, but it is also the fourth village of him to invade and torture the poor peasants like a warlock.

You do know that my life is also in danger because of you, yes?, said Asclepius, greatly disturbed by Raymond for being selfish since they first met. Raymond said nothing. He hated the idea of Asclepius being glued to his life.

I am an outcast. I always knew that I would stay an outcast, and I'm proud of it. To the first day that I had woken up with Sakura by my side, I had been one. I didn't care, and I didn't worry. I knew I could survive on my own, and I already have. Kura has told me many times the tale of the Chinese Zodiac, and how the rat had tricked the cat. I wasn't swayed by this fact. It was what was, and I couldn't change it. I didn't care if they hated me. I didn't care if I wasn't part of the Chinese Zodiac. I didn't care that I would never have any friends. I was alive. That was what mattered. Why whomever had made me a cat-girl was beyond my knowledge because I would never be needed by the others for any reason. I guess you could just say I was thankful to be alive and with Sakura, who meant the world to me. The fact that I was stuck in this world and treated lower than dirt though, did count as something. People from around here knew about me. They didn't actually ever see my face or my features, but they call me "The Shadow." Yeah, nice reputation, right? Firstly, shadows are not very friendly as they cover up things and cause darkness.

No one has ever seen my face as I said before, but everyone knows about me. Let's just say I have done a lot of ruthless things in my past such as... uh... how to put this... kill 17 people... No wait... My bad. 19 people. With arrows. It wasn't that I hit a major organ or anything, but my arrows are tipped with poison that can slow down the blood and kill a person in a matter of seconds. It's not nice, I know. But it's me. Deal. You got a problem? Then don't say anything. I have quite a reputation, because not only do all of the killings that I've done have a file in the police office, but also that I thieve. Lower than dirt, right? I know that I'm better than the rest of them, but if I'm lower than dirt, then I don't have money. Or, used to not have any money. Now, I have a lot of it thanks to stealing. Sakura, who by the way, had a personality very much like mine, didn't discourage it. She knew we had to survive, or at least I had to. If I survived, then she'd survive. Even though I got money, I still loved stealing. Stealing beat paying for things in a boring fashion, and stealing, slowly leveled up my criminal records in the police office for killing and stealing. (Which by the way, I was extremely proud of my records in the police office of all my "terrible" doings.)

Me and Sakura's home was in a large barn on the outskirts of the small village. It was in an abandoned field where no one went, and it was all boarded up. Me and Sakura could get in though because there was a small crack at one corner, where we could easily go into as cats. It was a safe place. We could hide our things in the hay, no one thought we were there, and if someone did, they still couldn't get in. I loved to stay at the barn, since the village that we lived in had become so boring. I would like to move about more often, but Sakura says that we can't move until we find another home in another village, and she was right. I couldn't stand to leave the barn behind, because what if we couldn't find another home as good as this one? I didn't want to have to live in an unsafe home, always on the alert. The barn was the only place I could relax because of the people who were trying to kill my kind.

Walking along the roads throughout the village was the one thing that didn't fully make me bored, but made so many alarm bells go off in my head, that it was hard to hear Sakura talking to me telepathically. Anyone could be a Protector as they call themselves, and they could easily turn on me. I had always toyed with the idea that they didn't know that there was an extra cat, and that they were just going after the main Zodiac Animals, but Sakura said that the answer was probably a no.

I stared down at the bright amber eyes of the leopard-patterned cat that were staring up at me. I didn't really like making Sakura walk too much, even though she claims it doesn't affect her. But I knew that my long strides soon made her tired, because at the end of walks, or even in the middle, I began to feel suddenly weak when I wasn't the second before. So as a "joy ride" I would pick up Sakura and place her around my neck. I usually wore a cloak with a hood to hide my face from others in case someone recognized me and alerted someone else. It didn't hurt to be too careful. Right now my hood was up so Sakura's eyes were shaded from the slowly rising sun. Fine... We'll find somewhere to eat for now. I knew that I didn't have to, but I wanted to pay for the meal today. For some reason I felt very tired, and this was going to be the first time in a while that I actually payed for a meal. I was too tired to steal, if that was even possible for me.

As we walked along, browsing through the street, looking for a pub to eat some food at, I heard a commotion up ahead. Screams met my ears. My senses were keen, due to the fact that I was part cat. I could see farther and hear farther away than a normal human, and my smell was also very good. I could also see in the darkness. The screams throbbed in my ears as they were so high-pitched and keening, and they left a ringing when they stopped, only to start up again. What the heck... I thought, not really to Sakura, but to myself in wonderment. Probably some drunkards. But Sakura didn't seem too sure about herself. I started to walk in the direction of the pub, but when I got there, no one was there except for a dispirited-looking man, who seemed to be the owner of the tavern. Tons of wine was all over the place, as well as a few shirts scattered here and there. That's... unusual... I thought.

Leaving the tavern, I headed back towards the center of the town. I guess we'd have to wait, as I didn't really want to see what was happening in other taverns. I didn't even know what happened in the other one. I've lost my appetite anyways. I said to myself. Sakura stretched around my neck but then suddenly froze. [/i]Sakura? What's the matter?[/i] I asked. I saw her wide eyes staring at something, but I didn't see what. There were only about two or three people walking behind me. Sakura, is it a Protector? I asked, but all I got back was a faint "No..." that was barely distinguishable. I noticed another figure. A boy that was behind us, walking the same direction. I looked forward and then tried to get a good look at him as I pretended to observe the buildings behind him. A boy with black hair who was about my age. There was another chilling fact that settled wrong in my stomach. A snake, coiled around his neck. It just... seemed out of place. Sakura was still frozen around my neck, obviously worried about something or someone. I whipped my head back around to face forward when I thought I accidentally made eye contact. Something about that kid didn't seem right. Something about him seemed foreign... Strange... But I just couldn't put my finger on it. So as calmly as I could, I kept on walking, hoping that I hadn't been noticed by the boy with the snake.

Do you really need to grab the attention of everyone...?, asked Asclepius, worried about some humans starring at both of them. It was pretty unusual for a boy of Raymond's age to be walking around with a snake around his neck. To Ray, however, he couldn't care less. Stop worrying already, the black-haired boy said, I can't see in this fog.

Raymond then felt something weird on his neck. It seems like Asclepius was frozen, worst yet, almost stranggling Raymond while staring behind them. "Ow..." he said, trying to release the snake from his neck, What is it now?, he thought and looked behind and followed where Asclepius was looking at. He saw nothing but fog and blurriness, Dang vision..., but he felt it. A girl. Was behind him. Raymond felt a chill down his spine... The girl was probably staring at them.

Ray's green iris suddenly shrinked and a small smirk rose from his pale face. She's looking at us..., he thought in a voluptuous way. Then, without a second thought, he slowly walked towards the girl. Asclepius on the other hand... Didn't like the idea.

W-W-W-Wait!!, screamed the snake inside Raymond's head, Something's wrong! I can feel something coming out of her!, he continued protesting but Ray wasn't listening, What if she's-- Gah!, Asclepius was interrupted by Ray grabbing the snake's head and putting inside his grey jacket. Let me think alone at least once, snake., Ray thought.

Raymond approached the girl and, with the no-one-can-resist-my-charms mode on, he smiled at her "Well, well... It's rare to smell someone as good as you, my lady." he said, always admitting at first that he's almost blind, but he can sense the smell of that girl. "Especially in this god-forsaken place." he concluded. He could hear Asclepius heavy sighs, Gods, not this again..., the snake mumbled, The other day was bett-- Gah!?, Asclepius was, again, interrupted by Raymond when he "accidentally" moved his arm close to his jacket, smashing Asclepius' reptilian body.

I stiffened as I heard the footsteps get closer, and noticed that Sakura shrunk down deeper into the hood. I wished I could disappear. One thing I didn't like, was attracting attention. And plus, something about this boy didn't seem right. I couldn't put my finger on it. I know that if I asked Sakura, she would know, but she was too shocked to answer. Sakura! What's the matter! Please answer me! I had called to her, but she didn't seem like she wanted to talk. I didn't know if it was purposeful, like a kind of assessment to see what I would do, or just from her being frightened somehow. From the mixed emotions I was feeling, I guessed it was the second option. The fog was thick, but when I turned around to see the boy, I could easily see what he looked like. It took all my strength to keep from running, something that kind of was a reflex. I didn't do well around people when I didn't know them. Cat instinct kind of... Or at least, for shy cats. I was one of those shy cats, not one of those ones who loved to meet new people.

Sakura, snap out of it! I hissed at the bundle around my shoulders as I stared at the ground, not really wanting to make eye contact. "Well, well... It's rare to smell someone as good as you, my lady." the boy said. I stiffened even more. Was he trying to smooth-talk me? And since when did I ever smell good? What was with the smelling thing? All I ever smelled like was outdoors and barn hay. I guess he was part blind or something, but that didn't give him a reason to walk up and compliment me about a characteristic I didn't have. I wasn't even pretty. I knew that he would keep on pestering me if I didn't respond, so I mumbled a reply as I stared at the ground, shadowing my face. "Thank you. No one really ever compliments anyone else around here." I said. If I had it my way, I would have shot out of that place, all the while trying to get Sakura to snap out of it. I guessed that if we left the boy, then Sakura would be back to normal. Something about the boy shocked her.

Hisssssssssssssssssssss...., Asclepius continued hissing with Raymond punching him inside the jacket everytime he did that, Stop that, dang it! You're gonna ruin my moment!, said the boy, losing pacient. He returned to look at the girl "Why so shy? You look lost... Don't worry, I don't bite..." Much, Raymond playfully thought, making a very small hissing song and his green iris shrinked more. Raymond! This girl! No... The cat!, Asclepius shouted
What cat?
The cat! Inside her hood!

Just when Asclepius pointed out, Raymond did seem to notice a strange aura coming out of the girls hood. "Hmmm..." Ray mumbled and he bended his head foward, looking like a snake ready to attack his prey, but he just gave another smile "You have a curious friend there..." he pointed out.

I finally braced myself and looked up into the green eyes of the boy. They seemed somewhat friendly and kind, but there was a certain type of relaxed look there too, that didn't quite settle well in his stomach, as if he thought everything would be okay. I guessed that this boy was a trouble maker, thinking that everything would be fine in the end. I tried to relax, but my arms and legs were tight, ready to run away. I faintly noticed how he was moving his arm somewhat against his pocket. I tried to not notice it, but I couldn't help but wonder why he was doing that. "No... I'm not lost. I've been here for quite a while..." I paused, but when suddenly I noticed the boy's eyes focused on something behind me, into my hood. I knew what he was looking at, but at the same time, I didn't believe it. I tried to shove it away, but I knew it was true. Slightly flustered, I responded quickly. "Yes... Her name is Shiloh." I said quietly. "She's scared of other people, so she likes to hide in my hood." I hoped he would go away, but I was so bewildered. He saw Sakura. That wasn't possible. Only my kind could see spirit guardians.

Raymond's eyes suddenly returned back to normal and he closed, giving a sleepy smile. He slowly returned his head to the right position. "I see..." he calmly said then he opened his eyes again "Are you free this night? Perharps we could go on a walk." then he shook his head "Oh how rude of me... Inviting you out and I haven't even introduced myself... I'm Raymond, but please" he playfully smiled, staring right into the girls eyes "...Call me Ray. A pleasure." he grabbed the girl's hand and gave a gentle kiss on them.

Pfff.... Casanova as ever..., Asclepius couldn't hold himself and joked. Raymond was always like that... After he go out with this girl, the next one would be waiting on the next day... But he was still suspicious... Why the girl suddenly looked hesitated to admit that there was something on her hood?

I wished that Sakura would actually stop gripping my skin so tightly with her claws. I nodded slightly as he replied "I see..." Right after that, he asked "Are you free this night? Perhaps we could go on a walk." I could not believe it. Who would want to walk around with me? A thief? Well, no one knew that, but still. Why was he interested in me? Was it just that he was normally like this? Would he totally forget about this whole thing tomorrow? I hope so. I didn't really want to be remembered by anyone in case the police caught up with me and questioned others. It was too risky. I know I should be disgusted about this whole thing, because I wasn't really meant to be around others, but when he kissed my hand after introducing himself, my cheeks felt hot. Am I freaking blushing? I thought, slightly scared. This wasn't me. This wasn't the Mai I knew. "Um... My name is Maia." I replied. It was close enough to my real name. After all, I what if he was using a fake name too? But just in case I would slip up and accidentally say that wasn't my name, I added. "But you can call me Mai." I said quickly. I reached up my hand and pet Sakura nervously, hoping that she would snap out of it. She was hurting me too, her claws digging into my back and neck.

"Maia, huh...?" Raymond slightly nodded. That sounded familiar to him. "Did you know that 'Maia' is the name of the itallian Goddess of spring and the most beautiful of her sisters?" he chuckled "That means that I won't need my eyes to know how you look like..."

After a pause, Ray nodded "Very well then, dear Mai... You still haven't answered my early question..." he went back, noticing that Mai only said her name, nothing more, nothing less. She's pretty shy..., Raymond thought, Shy girls are the best..., he concluded while giving another kick on Asclepius that was trying desperately to get out of the boy's jacket.

Sakura! Answer me right now! I barked in my mind. The shock seemed to be over, but now she was purposefully being quiet. I'd get her for this... Normally I wasn't this shy. I normally was direct and aggressive, ready to pounce. But that was only when this was a person that I knew somewhat, or a person that was making me angry, which was pretty much everyone. Sakura admits that she's even been scared of me before, and it takes a TON to get Sakura scared. I can be aggressive when I wanted to, but this was different. I was aggressive when I was angry at someone, or they were treating me terribly, as always. This boy, Ray, was actually treating me nicely. I didn't really know how to react to that, so I went into quiet mode, not really wanting to scare the boy away, but making sure he kept his distance. The distance thing wasn't really working. I wondered what Zodiac he was... Or was he a Protector? What if he was a Protector? I didn't know if Protectors could sense spirit guardians or not, but if Sakura was active, then I would be able to know. You're not helping at all. I added sharply to her. "Really?" I asked when he told me about the name Maia. Maia wasn't really my full name, only a longer version of Mai. But it was a nice name nonetheless. "I didn't know that that was what it meant." I tried to not respond to what he said about not needing his eyes. It's kind of lucky that he didn't see me. He would have flipped and ran away.

"Um..." I paused. It wouldn't hurt. I heard the voice in my mind. Sakura! I hissed angrily, slitting my eyes momentarily but then opening them again when I remembered that Ray was in front of me. But there was no answer from the cat. "I guess I could come on a walk. It'd be nice.[/i] I was trying to be nice, okay? I paused, wishing that I wasn't so uncertain. I just didn't know how to react. No one had ever been nice to me before otherwise than Sakura. Everyone has either called me names like scumbag and such, but I guess I deserve it since I steal and kill all the time. Oh, if this boy knew that I had killed 19 people, he probably would leave and forget any invitation for a walk. It wouldn't hurt to blend in a little, but I was still cautious. I finally decided to direct him hitting his jacket. It was confusing me, and I wondered if he had some kind of bug on him or something. "Um... Are you alright? Why are you hitting your coat?" I asked curiously.

"Ah, wonderful!" Raymond exclaimed happily "Anytime's fine by me... The forest is really quiet at the evening, mind you." he suggested. It was really quiet, only the sound of the wind hitting the leaves could be heard.

Raymond always liked dense forests... Maybe because he was part snake, as those crawler reptilians prefered to stay in the dense mountains of green and humid. However, Ray was way too tall to do such a thing... But it still "called" him like an instinct. Asclepius once told him that it's pretty natural and that Ray should sometimes follow that instinct once in a while so that it would put down his nerves.

Mai then pointed out how Raymond was constantly kicking his own jacket. Dang... I wasn't so cautious..., he thought, not wanting to sound crazy in front of this girl. "It's nothing... I just have a really annoying itch that doesn't stop bugging me." after he said that, he gave a really good kick on Asclepius that made him whine. Hnngg!, the snake moaned after that last kick, Alright, alright, I get it!, he said, finally stopping moving.

"I humbly apologize if this irritates you as much as it irritates me..." Raymond concluded, letting out a playfull smile.

I nodded. "Well, it's not even noon yet..." I said, just noticing how early it was. I thought we had been standing here for an hour or two, because it felt that long. "How about we meet at the village square at 4 o'clock?" I asked, hoping he'd understand. I really wanted to get back to the barn in time to scold Sakura for how she was acting. Then I needed to practice archery, then eat some food, and then come back here. I really hoped that if this was a Chosen One, that they couldn't read minds. I didn't want him to know. "Then we'll go for a walk." I tried to loosen up. I didn't want to seem on edge, because he might think that something is wrong. I nodded slowly as he responded to my question about him slapping himself. "Oh... Well, that happens to everyone." I said, still somewhat cautious. "No, no. It's fine. I was just wondering if you were in some sort of pain." I replied to his apology.

Raymond chuckled "That sounds purrrrfect to me." he said, imitating the sound of a cat purring, probably to joke about how Mai was keeping a cat inside her hood.

"Well... See you there then." he said, giving a few steps backwards, but not taking his eyes from the blurriness of the girl "If you don't appear..." he said, in a more dark voice "...I'll find you." his iris then shrinked again to its maximum, making his eyes almost total white with only a small green dot in the middle. "Haha, just kidding." he returned to his playfull mode when his eyes returned to normal as he turned his back to Mai.

Finally, after so much struggle, Asclepius came out of Raymond's jacket. That... Was NOT funny, Raymond..., he hissed, putting his forked tongue outside, Seriously... You could have killed me in there, just because of a girl!
Oh please... You're more resistant then that, Asc... Besides... What were you trying to tell me before? Raymond asked, as the two went through the fog of the village, carefully not bumping into any peasant.
You DID notice, Raymond... I think that girl was a Zodiac... I felt power not only coming out of her, but from her hood.
I did notice... So what? She was just hiding her kitty.
You don't get it, Raymond... She might be one of the people we're looking for.

Raymond suddenly stopped walking and stared at the snake.

I..., Asclepius sighed, Even I don't know well... Supposedly, there's a Prophecy that tells that 13 children of the animal signs will save the world. You are the snake, if you haven't noticed...
Oh, you don't say... I thought I was the frog... Wait-- Did you say 13? I thought it was 12.
Nay. The 13th is the Cat, that was left out of the Zodiac.
I see..., Raymond thought for a while. All this thing was really disturbing..., Anyways! I'm hungry.
You say that now., mumbled Asclepius, that had his stomach growling for the past 12 minutes that Raymond was talking with that girl.

Briefly, underneath my hood, two cat ears appeared and bent backwards in unhappiness. That wasn't a funny joke. He didn't know. I quickly made the ears disappear. I didn't want him to see. I didn't want him to know, but that joke wasn't funny, since I was really a cat. I knew that he was a Chosen One, but I hoped he didn't know about me. What Zodiac was he? Where was he hiding his spirit guardian? Was he a Protector? I doubted it. He would have killed me right then and there, or at least captured me. I heard that the Protectors were trying to capture Chosen Ones and run tests on them, try to turn them against others. What if that happened to me? I had too powerful of a power to be captured. If they brainwashed me, then that would be the end of the world as we know it. I bit my lip as I started to walk away. I nodded slightly at his little joke, allowing a small quirk of the mouth to show that I didn't think he was serious. Then I turned away, walking towards an alley slowly, then breaking into a run. Sakura jolted around on my neck, as if only her claws gripped into my skin were holding her on. That, and you're fat. I noted. I felt indignation overcome me so I shut my mouth. As soon as we reached the safety of the shadows in the alley, I transformed quickly into a cat, a slight foggy cloud forming around me, and then I came out as a black cat.

Sakura yowled and fell onto the ground, lying there for a second and then standing up to lick herself off. I am not fat! I am as slim as a bean. She responded, sitting down to start to lick at her chest, lifting up one paw to get her fur. Beans can be fat you know. I responded tartly. This ground is filthy. Why'd you drop me in a dark alleyway of all things? I rolled my eyes and stood up, shaking myself off and stretching, my black paws out in front of me. Because you were no help whatsoever. You sat there, waiting, digging your claws into my neck, not responding, doing NOTHING. I couldn't help but hiss in annoyance out loud as she flattened her ears against her head. I was shocked! Okay? I never knew that there were others around here! I nodded slightly in acceptance of her answer, my yellow eyes staring up at the far-away sky. So you were paying attention. I was really worried when he noticed you. I thought that he was a Protector. Sakura glanced around the alleyway, obviously nervous. I see. Well, Protectors can't see us. They can sense us, or our aura, but they can't see us. He's one of The Chosen alright.

I yawned and stared at the ground, worried about tonight. I'm going to have to hide you. It'd just be weird having to explain why I carry you around everywhere. Sakura started to walk in the direction of the barn, and I followed. I am not going to be in a bag or something. I want to be in the air. Bags are not the place for me. It sometimes was limiting when Kura had to be near me all the time. If we went too far away from each other, which, the farthest we could go was about 9 feet from each other, we both went through serious pain. You aren't going to freeze up like you did last time? You'll stay connected and actually SPEAK to me? I asked, hoping that she wouldn't just go into shock again, which was really annoying. Maybe I just can say that you like being around me. I responded. That, or since we'll be in the woods, you could be on the dark side of the path, hidden.
If I were caught in the light though, I'd be dead. Who can miss my beautiful fur?

Rolling my eyes, I leaned into Sakura slightly, catching her off guard and making her tip on her paws. Stop admiring yourself. Not the time to do that. I raced ahead, and Sakura started up too, tail high in the air. Hey! I wasn't admiring myself! She yowled after me. Come on! Let's get back to the barn to eat something. I need to practice archery anyways. Sakura seemed to snort. You're already awesome at it. You don't need to practice any more! I shrugged and raced down another alleyway, a map of the way to the barn burned into my mind from countless years of returning there. Soon enough, after some racing each other, we made it to the familiar bulk of the old, boarded-up barn. A few lingering wisps of fog were hanging over the wood hammered together to make home. Trotting through the tall grass, I momentarily lost sight of Sakura as she weaved through the strands of gold. Then we met up at the small crack in the wood and both shoved ourselves through, and into the safety of our home. I shifted into my half form, flopping onto the hay, exhausted.

So. Whatcha going to wear for your DATE. Sakura teased. I looked up, my upright cat ears laid flat on my head and hissed at the small figure in front of me that sat there placidly. It's not a date, or at least it is to him. I had to go along, because if I didn't, I wouldn't get peace and quiet. I say that I hissed. Yes, I can easily make cat noises in any form. Hissing, meowing, growling all come naturally in any form or size. I held my hand in front of my cattish eyes and retracted my claws, examining them. Well, it's not like you have anything else to wear... I glanced up and grinned slightly, all thoughts about training archery forgotten. Sakura, I think it's time we went shopping.
